Mt. Lebanon Public Library and The Historical Society of Mt. Lebanon welcome
you to this online historical archive. It represents the proud and storied
history of this community.
Although the first land patent was surveyed in 1770, Mt. Lebanon's rural
countryside began to change in 1901 when the first steetcar arrived. It soon
became "Pittsburgh's premier automobile suburb," a distinctive example of
the desire to live outside America's cities.
